Artists in Residence is a view into an alternative lifestyle. The documentary follows a group of disenfranchised Chicago artists as they pool their resources to create a permanent space for themselves. After decades of being forced out of their homes by gentrification, the group buys a building and creates a community of affordable artist live/work space. When their new units are damaged from construction problems, their struggle turns inward. The contentious battle between the residents threatens the success of their project. Will the urge to protect their own property trump their community living ideals?
