Nathaniel Braddock is a World War II Soldier who falls in love with a girl back home, a girl he has never seen or met. He only knows her from her journal, which he found in the local library before he was shipped overseas. During his service in occupied France, he corresponds with, each sending letters back and forth, the romance developing. He asks for a picture and she responds, love is not about a photo. Upon his return to Grand Central Station, he waits to meet his new love and she tells him to look for the girl wearing the red rose...
