A young man from Brooklyn joins the 10th Mountain Division during WWII. He is the only son of a family or Russian Jewish immigrants. He pays the ultimate price for freedom in the mountains of Italy in 945. His deeply personal story is told through his own words in his letters home. Many of the hundreds of pictures he took during those wartime years help to illuminate his story. This is ultimately a love story of one young man for his family and his country.
